Sen No Rikkyu

Sen No Rikkyu - founder of the Japanese tea ceremony.
(1522-1591)

He is the founder of Japanese tea ceremony.

He stressed on simplicity, rusticness and other simple qualities in the tea ceremony.

He was also a simple man with simple taste and had a cultivated and disciplined lifestyle.

He was a man of honour. When he committed suicide after having differences with the Shogun (the military ruler in Japan). Before he died, he gave his tea scoop as a keepsake to his disciple Oribe who name it "tears".
